The teams are distinct rivals, a tradition that is observed at KUKA, many of whom are alumni for the colleges or have children and relatives attending. Colleagues are encouraged to wear their team’s colors of blue for U of M and green for Michigan State and also all other colleges colors are encouraged. Spirit Day gets all the team together at the Hot Dog Lunches in all the KUKA buildings in the US. The winner of the game this year was Michigan State.   Diwali is one of the most important holidays in India and always starts on the fifteenth day of the Hindu month Kartik (late October / early November), 20 days after Dasahra to new moon. The different regions tell different stories about the origin of the row of lights. But in all the stories the return of the Divine King Ram(the embodiment of goodness and light) is celebrated  with the lights. This is the reason why people decorate their houses and land with diyas and colorful lights. Depending on the region, the party takes one to five days wherein each holiday has its own symbolic meaning and focus. • Dhanteras (Day 1): The first day of Diwali is known as Dhanteras (Dhan means ‘wealth’ and Teras means ‘13th day’). As the name implies, this day falls on the 13th day of the lunar month. During this day, people observe a fast which is broken after sunset when the women light lamps throughout the night in respectful adoration to Yam, God of Death. • Naraka Chaturdashi (Day 2): The second day of Diwali is Naraka Chaturdashi when the demon Naraka was defeated by Lord Krishna. On this day, people bathe before sunrise. This day is known as ‘Chhoti Deepavali’ as, according to the ritual of the puja, five lamps are lit at strategic places in the house – the gateway, barn, well, peepul tree and kitchen. • Diwali (Day 3): The third day is celebrated as the actual Diwali when the moon wanes entirely and there is complete darkness in the sky. Laxmi Puja is performed on this day using tiny diya lights to drive away the evil spirit. • Padwa (Day... Read More

Humedica serves needy children from around the world for years and we also help. Therefore our apprenticeships have restarted the “Christmas package” campaign, to put a little joy to needy children. The first package of hopefully many is already packed and a little girl should be happy on many colorful (well, tend to be pink) gifts. So that we can increase our rate of 220 packets, we ask for diligent participation of all KUKAner. And it is really very simple – the joy is prepared in six steps: 1. Shoebox cover: cover a shoebox complete with colored paper or some decorative embellishments. Please make sure that the lid is covered separately and removable. 2. Stickers cut out: indicate whether you would treat a boy or a girl, as well as the contents of the packet corresponds to which age group on the coupon. Cut out the coupon and glues the cut-out sticker clearly visible on the package. 3. Packets content: fill something from each of the following groups in your packet (the mixture makes it): • new or reconditioned toys – stuffed animals, dolls, cars, ball, puzzle, cubes, etc. • Candy – please make sure that the sweets are stable at least six months. • new toiletries – toothbrush (please in their original packaging), toothpaste, soap, shower gel and shampoo, cream • Towels, hairbrushes, combs, barrettes • new or like-new clothing – hats, scarves, gloves, shirts and sweaters, pants, socks, etc. • School supplies – pins, sharpener, time- and picture books, erasers, notebooks, rulers, etc. The following items please do not pack up, they are sorted out: • Foods... Some employees in hall 0 might have been a bit scared this afternoon – shortly after 2:30 the alarm bells started ringing and smoke could be seen in the stairwell. With a test fire alarm the course of action in an emergency was traines. Multitudes of employees left the building and went to the collection point, while a fire truck moved in after only a few minutes. Only a short stop at the factory gates later the firefighters stormed the hall. For an emergency, it is highly important that every employee knows his or her escape routes and meeting point, therefore KUKA regularly practises for actual emergency.
