As promised some of our employees had the opportunity to test the Tesla S through his paces and everyone would prefer to keep the car at the end. The boost of the electric car is very direct and very fast. The difference between the almost silent start and the extreme acceleration is impressive. That’s why you have to pay attention not to be too fast. Sure, the Tesla has a function with an automatic warning system but on a test run you want to try everything. The facts and figures of the tested vehicle speak for themselves – 700 PS HP all-wheel drive, in 3.4 seconds to 100, outstanding tuned chassis and a large space capacity. Tesla promises a range of approximately 460 km. We couldn’t exhaust this in a 30 minutes drive but some of our colleagues tried it at least. The processing – done with KUKA robots – of course is top and the driving behavior fits to such a luxury sports car. “To drive the car is really fun” says Severin Wittmann, Sales assistant Body Structures Sales and Project-Management after the obtained test drive and “preferably I’d like to have it for a weekend to extend it once in a winding mountain route”. Unfortunately we cannot fulfill that desire but who has the chance to drive the car: do it! “It is just phenomenal” adds Severin Wittmann quite enthusiastically and finds only one word to summarize the drive “marvelous”.             VN:F [1.9.22_1171]please wait...Rating: 0.0/5 (0 votes... Like every year the delegation of youth invited all apprentices and trainers to their annual summer festival. With a huge pavilion, hot food and cold drinks the summer festival becomes successful! All apprentices and trainers came together to review the past year of apprenticeship, here at KUKA. In connection with the informative meeting, there was the summer festival, where not only our “old bunnies”, but also our newcomers, who will start in September their apprenticeship here at KUKA, were welcomed. In this way the newcomers could learn more about each other. They also got some important tips from our apprentices for their apprenticeship. Although the weather wasn’t very well, all the apprentices and trainers had a good time at summer festival 2015! In this sense we wish you all a recreative vocation and a fresh start into the new year of apprenticeship! Also we wish our newcomers a great start for their apprenticeship and their time here at KUKA. VN:F [1.9.22_1171]please wait...Rating: 0.0/5 (0 votes... Read More

A KUKA Industries team experienced a special success last week: The KUKA Genius, our new compact, modular friction welding machine was awarded with the Red Dot Design Award 2015 in the category product design. The Red Dot is a recognized quality seal for excellent design. Each year, an international jury of experts is awarding products of various categories from all over the world. From thousands of submissions, KUKA Genius could convince with its appealing design coupled with high functionality, as well as a simple and ergonomic operation. “Our friction welding machine could prevail among numerous other products and we are proud to belong to the best of this year with our machine”, says Harald Heinrich, project manager research and development. The process of friction welding uses the heat generated by friction to connect different materials. KUKA established this special form of press welding nearly 50 years ago as a new industrial joining process and developed it through such innovations as the short time and the positioned friction welding. With the new KUKA Genius comes a further step of innovation which offers a flexible and powerful solution for a wide product range to create friction welding processes. Behind this new development an interdisciplinary project team with more than 40 specialists out of all departments participated in the development of this new generation of friction welding machines. The claim: A simple, not overly complex solution should be realized, which would meet the wishes of our customers. This succeeded in the development of KUKA Genius.
