TechTuesday: linear today.

An entirely new topic on our technology pages is linear friction welding. This technology is closely related to the traditional friction welding. As in the traditional process there is a component and a weld seam is produced by friction, but here the second part is not rotating but oscillating or performing a linear movement. Therefore we do not need a rotation-symmetric component for this process, so rectangular parts can also be welded. In this way, the entire surface is heated at the same time so that even large components can be welded with high speed and low power consumption. Our colleagues from KUKA Systems UK are experts for this procedure.
