Today from the Munich Trade Fair from the Automatica 2014. Our application for the insertion of plugs on our booth is already quite famous. As early as the visitors crowded the halls our experts are about to answer to the first questions of many interested people.
The insertion of plugs is an important process in the automotive industry. For reasons related to production, each bodyshell has around 200 holes that must be sealed once coating is completed in order to prevent the entry of liquids into the finished car. Up to now, this non-ergonomic and monotonous overhead process was carried out manually. As a result, many manufacturers have the need to automate this process.
In cooperation with a car manufacturer, KUKA Systems has developed a tool which automates the process and is also capable of collaboration with human operators. This takes advantage of the unique selling points of the LBR iiwa in order to enable reliable handling of the plugs and integrated process control. Elaborate external sensors are therefore no longer required, and, as a result, process stability is greatly improved.
Come to the Automatica 2014 in Munich and see the application running on our booth 221 in hall A4. You can still order tickets on our Automatica site.
We are looking forward to meet you there!
