Today about Human-Robot-Collaboration (HRC): Last week at the AUTOMATICA 2014 we proved that human-robot-collaboration is not dreams of the future by having our booth without any safety fence. KUKA Systems presented the kitchen assistant, an application for use in a commercial or hospital kitchen. The KUKA LBR iiwa independently and reliably assumes tasks at the end of the portioning conveyor which are arduous for human workers. It takes hold of the fully assembles food trays and places them in awaiting distribution trolleys or vice versa.

High-performance sensors, intelligent control systems and the most advanced software technologies are all integrated into the LBR iiwa and ensure safe collaboration between humans and robots without safety fences. Flexible applications in different places and for different tasks are also possible. Thanks to this concept, employees can meet the required output by deploying the necessary number of robots at various locations within production and for a wide range of purposes.
